Pizza and Sandwiches!

In this week’s blog, we decided to partner with our friends from Which Sandwich? to discuss not only pizza in Albuquerque, but also sandwiches.  Which Sandwich? is a blog that reviews sandwiches from different restaurants in the Albuquerque area. For their first blog post, they reviewed Subway’s Hot and Spicy Sandwich. For college students that go to the University of New Mexico, Subway is a frequent stop since it is conveniently located-on campus. Throughout their post, they describe the reasons for purchasing Subway sandwiches and how convenient it is for college students to choose Subway for their meal. Additionally, they rate the sandwich a 7 out of 10, due to the quality of the sandwich and the Subway's atmosphere.

In their second review, they went to Jersey Mike’s to evaluate their Philly Cheese steak.

Jersey Mike’s is a sandwich shop with various locations throughout Albuquerque, one of which within view of the University of New Mexico main campus. The Philly Cheese steak is one of the local favorites and is available in three sizes, 5, 7, and 15 inches. As our friends from Which Sandwich suggest, this sub shop is very fast and easy for people to order. At the end of their review, they rate their sandwich to be a 9 out of 10.

In the spirit of combining the love of pizza and sandwiches, we visited Dion’s, which is a restaurant that serves pizza, salad, and subs. Dion’s was founded in Albuquerque in 1978 and the two owners wanted to open up a Greek restaurant. Since then, Dion’s has multiplied across New Mexico, Colorado, and Texas. Within their restaurant, you can choose between original and gourmet pizzas and have the option of making your own pizza. A classic pizza would be the 505, which consist of pepperoni and green chile.  Another local favorite is the Duke City pizza which includes cheddar cheese , turkey, green chile and topped off with parmesan cheese. The gourmet pizzas served at Dion's come in two different sizes, the 10 and 14 inch. Original pizzas come in three different sizes, 12, 14, and 16 inches.

 

Dion’s also has a variety of subs. The subs come in two sizes, 6 and 10 inches. Each sub comes with a cup of fruit or chips as a side and your choice of one of their homemade dressings. A local favorite that pairs well with a slice of pizza or a sub is the Green Chile Ranch dressing.

 

As a restaurant that has started in New Mexico and has expanded into different states, they offer logo t-shirts and stickers for sale, and have great job opportunities for high school and college students alike. As for ordering their food, you can call-in, order online, or utilize their app. You can also dine-in or take your food to go. Dion's caters!
